My year update continued..

The holiday to Spain was just what I needed in preparation for September, one of the most important months to date. George was to be in Year 1 when he started back at school and Madeline was starting school in Reception. I had no issues at all, they both enjoy school.
I then started University beginning the three year BEd in Primary Education. I am thoroughy enjoying the course and can't wait to become a teacher. My first placement was teaching Year 4 children and I had a fantastic time. It is so rewarding. The friends I have made on the course are I am sure friends for life notably Lauren, Ruth and Hannah.

October was a sad month. Both of the children fell ill with the chicken pox. Madeline had them first (along with all her class) followed by George who had to spend his 6th birthday covered in spots! He was still allowed his best mate Connor round to play though.
Due to the childrens illness it meant I was unable to visit my Nanny Anne who sadly passed away on October 28th. I read at her funeral and hope she is looking down on us. Even today Madeline asked if Nanny Anne was playing piano in heaven? I like to think she is.

Then there was Christmas. I had so many essays due in at university along with my starting a new job at Sainsbury's but I managed to get it all done and we had a great time over the festive period. As usual we went to Nan and Grandpa's for lunch after opening presents at home and visiting my Dad, Jayne and sisters. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. When I think of Christmas I immediatley think of Nanny Maud and Grandad and the fun we had Christmas evening playing Bingo, nan throwing a fiver into the kitty and constantly asking if we wanted a turkey sandwich. I therefore had the family at our house that evening as in a way, I feel that Nanny Maud and Grandad are still here in the house with me.

2010 so far has been taken up with university, school placements, work at Sainsbury's and spending time with the children. Fiona has now bought her own apartment, Annabel can now drive and has just bought her first car, Harriet has left school and will be starting college in September, the twins are so tall and will be going into year 5 soon and both George and Madeline have just had their first sports day as in previous years it has always been rained off! George got a first in his relay and a second in running and kicking a ball at the same time! Madeline was a star and just revelled in the attention she got with people cheering her name!

I have passed Year 1 at university and I am looking forward to a well earned holiday next week to Rhodes for two weeks in preparation for September. If I have forgot to add anything I will update. Till next time

Sarah
